Notes From Ava

Spring at last! It seemed like the red-buds, forsythia, and daffodils just appeared one day. I love the shades of green, pink, purple, and yellow showing at this time of year. It's time to break out the camera and paints to try to capture the moment.

If everything goes as planned and enough people sign up, I am going to be teaching 2 classes in June at the Estes Park Wool Market in Estes Park, Colorado. I'll be teaching beginning crochet and how to crochet buttons with crochet thread and beads. It should be a lot of fun. I haven't been in Colorado since I was 8 years old. I told everyone then that I was going to live in the mountains when I grew up. Here I am in the mountains, just not the same ones!

Give a friend or family member a hug today. Or better yet, take the time to do a craft project together.

Happy Crafting!

A Fun Yarn

Bernat Felting

100% natural wool bulky weight 75 grams/ 84 yards per ball $5.49/ball
gauge: 13 stitches and 17 rows = 4â€with a size 10.5 knitting needle

This is a space dyed natural wool that can be used as is or in felting projects. I designed a simple purse and worked it twice, leaving one as is and felting the second. The colors become more mottled when felted. I can't decide which I like best. It looks great made up as a scarf also. Try Bernat Felting if you are looking for a bulky weight wool for a project!
