Its fall again! This year has flown. The trees are beginning to turn here. Several people have been in looking for ways to preserve leaves. Look for one way in the tip section.
Tightened budgets are making us all anxious and fearful. Experts tell us to exercise more, eat right, and involve ourselves in an activity that we enjoy. What a perfect time to dig out the crochet hooks, knitting needles, or paint brushes. As peoples thoughts begin to turn to the holidays, why not make at least part of the decorations and gifts this year? Involve the kids in activities with paint, clay, and foam. Start a new tradition (or revive an old one). Above all, be thankful for family, friends, and life this holiday season.
And, as always, for all knitters, the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7 pm at the shop is Knitting Guild. Come join us!
To preserve those beautiful fall leaves, pat them dry with a paper towel. Lay another paper towel on an ironing board. Lay wax paper with the wax side up, the leaves, another piece of waxed paper with the wax side down, and another paper towel on the first towel. Press with a warm iron until the wax has coated the leaves. Pick up the paper towels. Let the leaves cool. Cut out around the leaves and pull the wax paper off the leaves. Store your leaves flat between layers of waxed paper. They should last for several years if you keep them dry and cool.
