Materials Needed:
130 (200) yards of worsted weight yarn The samples were done with Paton's Canadiana (100% acrylic, worsted weight, 201 yards per ball). The small size was knitted with Light Pink. The large size used Rainbow (an ombre).
Size 8 knitting needles (or size needed for gauge)

Abbreviations:
K: knit
P: purl
inc: An increase; in this pattern, knit into the front and back of the next stitch.
K2tog: Knit the next two stitches together. This makes a decrease that slants to the right.
SSK: Slip the first stitch, slip the second stitch, insert the left needle through the front of both stitches from left to right and knit them together. This makes a decrease that slants to the left.

Gauge: 16 stitches and 21 rows = 4
on size 8 needles or the size needed for the gauge

Do not bind off.
Cut the yarn with a long tail (about 30"). Thread the tail through the yarn needle. Run the yarn through stitches on the needle and pull the stitches tight. Fasten the first and last stitches of row 67 together. Seam the hat. The brim will roll; you can shape it slightly yourself.
Pom Pom:
Wrap yarn around a 3 x 3 piece of cardboard around 100 times. Run a 20 piece of yarn through one folded edge of the pom pom. Tie the yarn tightly into a bundle. Cut the other folded edge, remove the cardboard, and stitch the pom pom to the top of the hat.
